About Me

“Liz Jones is a governance professional with over two decades of board, tribunal, and advisory experience across health, housing, social care, sport and recreation, and regulatory sectors in New Zealand and the United Kingdom. Liz currently serves as a Lay Member on New Zealand's Health Practitioners Disciplinary Tribunal and on the Radiation Safety Advisory Council, both Ministerial appointments. Her governance portfolio has included Non-Executive Director roles with Housing New Zealand Corporation and Bromford Housing Group (UK), Board Trustee for HARC Housing Association, a Governance Board role with the New Zealand Mounted Games Association chairing its Complaints Committee (alongside a regional committee role with Manawatu Mounted Games focused on fundraising), and panel membership with the UK's Health and Care Professions Council. Earlier in her career she served on national advisory boards for the UK Government, including the National Independent Living Strategy and Opportunity Age ageing policy programme, and contributed consumer and lay perspective to clinical guidance development with the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE). Alongside her governance work, Liz has built a senior executive career spanning the Social Workers Registration Board (where she has held Director and Acting Chief Executive roles), the Office of the Auditor-General, Deloitte, and the UK's Audit Commission, as well as founding her own advisory consultancy, Performance Improvement Advisory Services. This work has given her deep grounding in regulatory design, public accountability, risk and assurance, and organisational performance, experience she now draws on as a Board-level governor. Liz is committed to values-based, people-centred governance that keeps public interest, community safety, and the lived experience of service users at its centre. She is a member of the Institute of Directors New Zealand and has mentored emerging professionals through Hāpai Public. Having built a strong executive foundation, Liz is now deliberately transitioning into a portfolio governance career, contributing strategic oversight, regulatory expertise, and sector leadership across the organisations she serves. ”
