About Me
“As a hockey scholar at Lincoln University I studied Sport and Recreation Management, minoring in exercise and health and event management before gaining a Masters of Applied Science in Parks and Recreation Management. As part of my Masters I looked at the long-term effectiveness of the Green Prescription programme (an NZ health initiative). I began my career on a graduate programme with Auckland Council in their Parks Team, primarily working on a low carbon parks study, before moving to the Napier City Council sport and recreation team, where I led multiple projects. As an accredited recreation professional (ARPro) I'm now working with Xyst as an Open Space and Recreation Consultant. I continue to up-skill having completed a Te Reo Level 2 course through the Eastern Institute of Technology in 2020 and am currently studying a certificate in Tikanga Māori through Te Wānanga o Aotearoa. From a governance perspective I am currently Co-chair of the Recreation Aotearoa Midlands Committee and a Steering Committee member of the NZ Generate Network (a network for emerging recreation professionals). I also teach Hawkes Bay secondary school students outdoor skills and guide them on multi-day hikes in the local ranges to assist them towards their Duke of Edinburgh awards. I am passionate about sport and recreation and thrive off work that positively benefits the community, environment and the next generation. In my spare time I play hockey, enjoy keeping active, socialising and supporting family and friends and love exploring new places off the beaten track.”
