About Me

“Candace has held executive roles in tech/telco, cyber security, health sciences, FMCG, infrastructure and finance sectors, and has been on more than a dozen private, government and listed boards. Her core expertise is in technology commercialisation, business transformation, M&A transactions, and infrastructure business governance. She has had experience in taking a company to IPO on the NZX and transaction involvement of value over $800m. Candace is a Chartered Member of the Institute of Directors and currently a non-executive director for genetics company Livestock Improvement (LIC), WEL Networks, NZ Health Partnerships and Eastland Group. She currently Chairs the Cancer Society of New Zealand for Auckland / Northland and the Superb Herb Company. She has previously served on the crown board Quotable Value (QV), as an appointed board member on Auckland Council's Regional Facilities Group, UltraFast Fibre (UFF), NZX listed company EROAD, global recruitment company Talent International, family owned business McCashins Brewing and a range of not for profit and industry focused boards and trusts. Candace recently completed a contract as the Head of Transformation for Jarden, a leading investment bank in ANZ, and spent four years as an Advisor for Palo Alto cyber/data analytics company, Palantir (NASDAQ:PLTR.) While CEO of NZTech, she founded NZTechWeek and NZTechWomen. As CEO of award-winning startup Biomatters, she led the business to succeed in over 60 countries and become a global leader in genetics software. Around the board table, Candace’s expertise is in shifting the dial to focus on the customer experience and a strong understanding of core governance principles. With local and international networks across the spectrum in business, technology, VC funds and government, Candace's passion is in linking people and opportunities for global business growth. Candace has been a finalist in the New Zealand Westpac Women of Influence Awards twice for Board and Management category, and was awarded the AUT Business Award for Leadership in 2019. Candace has degrees in Anthropology & Political Science from the University of Hawaii, a PostGrad & Masters in Business from Massey University, an MBA in Bio-Pharma from Rutger's University, advanced studies in Asian Business Risk & Governance from the University of Melbourne, and has completed further studies in Cyber Policy from MIT and governance from Stanford University. She is a member of the Australian Institute of Corporate Directors and a Chartered member of the NZ Institute of Directors. ”
