A recognition of best practice governance...

The Governance Mark is an independently verified process that assesses the standard of governance in an organisation.

The requirements to achieve the Mark include having processes in place for director recruitment, clarity on roles, well-structured meetings and a culture of external accountability – it’s not a simple tick box exercise. The Mark also assures governing boards and the communities they serve that they are following good practice.

Assessment against Sport NZ's governance framework is a facilitated process using the online governance assessment tool. This should be part of any boards documented commitment to evaluation and development. A full description of the governance programme and the Mark process can be downloaded here.
