About Me

“Kia ora, I am a results-driven and highly accomplished professional looking to commence my governance journey. I have more than 15 years of experience as a collaborative leader across the domains of health, sports science, defence and international relations. Through roles in New Zealand and internationally I have demonstrated performance in detailed planning, political awareness, risk management and the ability to problem solve in complex environments. Recently, I completed a PhD in human performance. The wāhine-centric research explored factors limiting equitable health and physical fitness outcomes for young women seeking to commence and continue a career in the military. I am committed to the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and my PhD thesis addressed health issues for young Māori and Pacifika women. A grounding in evidence-based research supports my ability to think critically and use sound judgement to make decisions. My primary strengths that will support effective board governance are leadership, planning, research and evaluation, diversity, inclusion and ethics. In addition, I value clear communication both internally and externally with key stakeholders to create and maintain a positive work environment that is mission focused. I am incredibly passionate about health and wellbeing and consider sport and active recreation critical to achieving this. My motivation to apply for governance roles is based on the opportunity to serve and have a meaningful impact within my community and wider Aotearoa.”
