As a Trustee of FAME Lucy's role was to develop the Alumni network spanning FAME 1 to FAME 5 and to work alongside Management at the Universities responsible for the direction of FAME. One of the highlights of this position was organising the annual FAME Alumni conference for several years and hosting some of NZ and the world's leading Agri-food speakers. Wakatu is a NZD$250 million Maori Incorporation based in New Zealand’s Te tau Ihu (top of the South Island). The company has diverse business portfolios including aquaculture (Aotearoa Seafoods), viticulture (Tohu Wines), horticulture, forestry, tourism and property investments. The company also has a family food brand called KONO, meaning ‘food basket’. Over the 6 year period from 2002 – 2008, Lucy received various promotions within the group and held positions including being based in the London as UK/EU Marketing and Sales Manager for Tohu Wines, KONO and Aotearoa Seafoods. Lucy was integral in initiating the family brand KONO and establishing it in international markets. The KONO brand has continued to grow exponentially for Wakatu.
