Electrical Workers Registration Board

The EWRB is a Statutory Board, responsible under the Electricity Act 1992 for the electrical safety of New Zealanders, through the licensing and registration of electrical workers, and the administration of ongoing competency training programmes for these workers. In addition to its regulatory functions, the Board sits as a disciplinary tribunal, hearing complaints against electrical workers, and disciplines those in breach of the regulations and standards.

ICE Angels is an early-stage investor group, which operates as a business unit of The Icehouse. ICE Angels is New Zealand’s largest group of Angel investors with 140 members. In the past decade, the ICE Angels have invested over $60m into more than 60 early stage companies. The Advisory Board is responsible for guiding management to deliver ongoing flow of potential investible deals to the members, and to supporting the members (and the entrepreneurs looking for funding) in closing the deals.


D'Arcy Polychrome Ltd

A start-up company, commercialising a new technology for producing stir-in colour for paint, plaster and concrete for household and commercial use. Served as a director on the first Board, representing investor interests through the first two years, during which the company raised over $1.7million in angel investment funds and went from concept to production-ready.

The MA is a membership organisation with some 6,000 members, representing professional marketers and marketing in NZ. My tenure as Board Chair has seen a significant resetting of strategic direction, the replacement of the CEO and refresh of the management team, and the constitutional change required to reshape the Board to allow for diversity through an appointment process (rather than just elected board members). The MA is now in a phase of investment for the future, and continues to grow member numbers and member engagement.

Started my own market research consultancy, with one partner, which grew to over 100 FTE over the following 15 years, until it was sold in a trade sale.
